ISLAMIC ACTIVITY

Learning the Dua of Thankfulness

As part of our Islamic activities, today we will focus on learning the dua (supplication) for thankfulness. This dua helps children to cultivate gratitude in their daily lives and to thank Allah for His countless blessings.

Activity: Learning the Dua of Thankfulness

Time: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Description:

  1. Introduction:
    • Begin with a brief discussion about the importance of being thankful and how expressing gratitude can make us feel happier and more content.
    • Explain that in Islam, we thank Allah for His blessings by reciting specific duas.
  2. Reciting the Dua:
    • The dua for thankfulness in Arabic is

                                    اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ

      • Transliteration: Alhamdulillah
      • Translation: All praise and thanks are due to Allah.
  1. Interactive Learning:
    • Children will repeat the dua after the instructor multiple times to ensure proper pronunciation and memorization.
    • Use visual aids, such as flashcards with the Arabic text, transliteration, and translation, to help with learning.
  2. Storytelling:
    • Share a simple story about a person who always remembers to say “Alhamdulillah” and how this gratitude brings them peace and happiness. This contextualizes the importance of the dua in their daily lives.
  3. Craft Activity:
    • Each child will create a gratitude jar. They will decorate their jar and write down things they are thankful for on small pieces of paper to put inside. This helps to reinforce the habit of thankfulness and gives them a visual reminder of their blessings.
  4. Group Recitation:
    • Conclude the session with a group recitation of the dua, ensuring that everyone feels confident and comfortable with it.

By the end of this activity, children will have learned the dua of thankfulness and understand its significance in expressing gratitude to Allah for all His blessings.

Notes for Parents:

  • Encourage your child to practice the dua at home, especially when they feel thankful.
  • All materials for the craft activity will be provided by the camp.

We hope this activity will help instill a habit of gratitude in the children and remind them to always thank Allah for His blessings.
